Joshua Brodbeck is a young American concert organist who is in constant demand as a performer and hymn fest leader. At the age of nine, Mr. Brodbeck performed in first concert in the United States. He made his international debut at age 12 playing for an organ dedication in Slovenia, Europe. Throughout his brief career, Mr. Brodbeck is known, and is commended for his varied programs that please audiences everywhere.  Recent engagements have included tours in Germany, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, with other engagements taking place in the United States.

 

Mr. Brodbeck began his studies at Bluffton University at the age of 12 with Dr. Stephen Jacoby. After graduating high school, Mr. Brodbeck studied at the Capital University Conservatory of Music as well as the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University with Mr. Todd Wilson. Throughout his time studying, he won first prize in many competitions including the American Guild of Organist’s Young Artist Competition.  Since graduating, Mr. Brodbeck has had coaching sessions with Mr. Paul Jacobs of the Juilliard School of Music and Dame Gillian Weir of the United Kingdom.

Currently, Mr. Brodbeck is the Minister of Music and Artist-in-Residence at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, Ohio. In this role, he oversees the entire music program and concert series. Mr. Brodbeck is also the Artistic Director for the Delaware Community Chorus and Director of Worship for the Southern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Watoto Read is pleased to present to you an afternoon of music with the above six artists! Familiar faces at local venues like Natalie’s Coal Fired Pizza and Comfest, these singer/songwriters perform widely in the US and abroad. They bring a variety of styles including melodic groove, soft rock and country. Join us for this special opportunity to hear these artists perform together.
Cost: FREE! Donations are appreciated toward Watoto Read’s work in supporting elementary education in refugee camps in Sub-Saharan Africa. We are grateful to these artists performing free of charge in order to allow all funds to go toward the schools.

About the Performers

Keith Larsen – A finalist in the CMT/NSAI Song Contest, in which his song, “Hold On,” received the Listener’s Choice Award. He is a frequent participant in Nashville songwriter rounds and writing sessions. As funny as he is compelling, Keith merges a straightforward vocal style with lyrics that resonate with simplicity, honesty and humility.

We would be honored to have you and your whole family as our special guests, while we celebrate the founding of Watoto Read.
WATOTO (Swahili for “children”) READ is a new, independent, nonprofit organization incorporated in Ohio. Watoto Read was
formed in order to respond to the crisis of refugees in Sub Saharan Africa. Our focus is on education. Our first initiative is to provide shelters for children to attend school, as currently most camps teach outdoors. We hope you can come help us celebrate and learn more about Watoto Read.
